Ogden District Campgrounds 

 

ocean-like beach experience with warm water, sandy beaches, and a nice lake. Bring the whole family on a day trip or week-long summer adventure!

Located just north of Great Salt Lake. Known for its alpine-like lakes full of fish, its a gateway to ski resorts in the winter. Summers start early in May and continues through September, this district is a very busy place, especially on the weekends. The biggest attraction is Pineview Reservoir where visitors can indulge in water sports such as boating, swimming, and fishing. Looking for a beach experience? Make sure to stop at Anderson Cove campground or Cemetery Point Day Use area - the biggest beach in the state of Utah. Camping is also available at Anderson Cove Campground or at Ogden Canyon campgrounds. Summer visitors can take a scenic drive, hike, bike, watch birds and wildlife, and ride their OHVs. Winter activities include snowmobiling, downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice-fishing.

  • Ogden River Scenic Byway. The Ogden River Scenic Byway begins in Ogden on SR-39 and continues east to Woodruff. Visitors traveling up this narrow canyon can enjoy alpine beauty, excellent fishing, and recreational opportunities at Pineview Reservoir. Climbing higher, they arrive at some of northern Utah’s loveliest vistas.

Anderson Cove campground

Anderson Cove Campground is a popular facility located 10 miles east of Ogden, Utah, on the banks of Pineview Reservoir in scenic Ogden Valley. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming.

This large campground contains five group sites that can each accommodate up to 100 people. Two of these sites are accessible and all five have large picnic shelters. Several single and double-family sites are available as well. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided.

A small cove has been buoyed off to identify a swimming-only beach. The campground store is located at the entrance and is used as the Public Contact /Check-in Station. The campground store has a variety of camping food and snacks, ice, ice cream, hot chocolate, gifts and apparel, camping equipment, firewood, sand and water toys, life vests, and much more. There is a gate system that is closed at night with tire rippers.

The campground offers a dump station.

  • Be aware that boats, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and any other floating conveyance are required to stop at all inspection stations when they are open and operating. If an inspection station is not open, you still have a legal responsibility to effectively decontaminate your watercraft.

  • The campground is DOG FRIENDLY. Please make sure to keep your dogs leashed at all times. Dogs are NOT ALLOWED at the Day Use Area, on the beach, or on any of the glamping unit sites.

Botts campground

Botts Campground is a small campground located about six miles east of Huntsville, Utah on a curve along the South Fork of the Ogden River. A host is not on-site but can be found at Magpie Campground. It has been a popular camping spot since the pioneers came to Utah. Although the trees are not thick, they are big and very old. Firewood is available for purchase from the host at Magpie Campground.

Popular local recreation activities include fishing, hiking, swimming, and tubing down the South Fork Ogden River (a life jacket is required for all tubers). The campground offers 7 single campsites and 1 double campsite, picnic tables, fire rings, and vault restrooms.

BLUFF Marina (Cemetery Point picnic area)

Cemetery Point Picnic Area is very popular. Picnic tables in a nice grassy and shady area with pedestal grills are available for picnicking. This site has vault restroom facilities. The site offers access to the beach and water play. A small cove has been buoyed off to identify a swimming-only beach.

Lower Meadows Campground

This campground is located on the far side of the river from Highway 39. The entrance is the same as Upper Meadows, but instead of turning left, stay on the road, cross the bridge and turn to the right at the top of the hill. This campground is one of the most spacious with the individual sites quite far apart. The grass is usually tall and thick. This campground has 23 single sites. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Magpie campground

Magpie Campground is heavily wooded with mostly cottonwood trees and other river-bottom types of vegetation. The South Fork of Ogden River flows adjacent to the campground. The campground offers nine single sites. Picnic tables, fire rings, and vault restrooms are available. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Middle Inlet picnic area

Middle Inlet Group Day Use Picnic Area is located on the eastern shore of Pineview Reservoir, just 2 miles from Huntsville, Utah. It’s a great location for weddings, company picnics, and family reunions. Boating, swimming, and fishing are popular activities.

This day-use site can accommodate up to 75 people. It offers a large picnic shelter, 12 picnic tables, grills, a dutch-oven cooking surface, serving tables, a concrete site pad, and a large gravel parking area. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. A host is on-site. A small cove has been buoyed off to identify a swimming-only beach.

Monte Cristo campground

Monte Cristo Campground is located 30 miles east of Huntsville, Utah. This campground is at the highest elevation in the Ogden District at 9,000 feet. Individual campsites are surrounded by spruce and Douglas fir stands. The campground usually opens beginning of July. The campground has 46 individual campsites and two group sites. This campground offers vault and flush restroom facilities. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Visitors enjoy exploring the local trails via hiking, biking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicle riding. Horses are not allowed within the campground and you must trailer your ATV one mile or more. The drive along scenic Highway 39 through wildflower-filled meadows and beautiful forests is spectacular. Summer wildflowers are plentiful and autumn leaves put on a spectacular show. Sugar Pine Creek is nearby.

Perception Park campground

Perception Park Family Campground is located on the banks of the South Fork Ogden River. Campers love the park for its shade and great river access. This scenic campground is situated among shady cottonwoods and willow. Moose and deer wander through the campground on occasion. It was built for the use of the physically challenged in the mid-1980s. Concrete platforms with benches have been placed in several locations along the river for the enjoyment of the handicapped. Although the campground was built for the disabled, it is available to all. This campground includes 16 single campsites, 3 group sites, and vault restroom facilities. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Popular local recreation activities include fishing, swimming, and tubing (a life jacket is required for all tubers) on the river. Hiking is also popular on the paved nature trail that runs alongside the river.

Port Ramp Marina

Port Ramp Marina is a boat launch facility located just 10 miles from Ogden, Utah, on the west side of Pineview Reservoir in scenic Ogden Valley. The marina is the most used launching facility at Pineview Reservoir, the state's busiest reservoir. The facility has a concrete boat ramp and a large paved parking lot with a designated area for slip holders. A public dock is on-site. A dump station and vault toilets are located in the paved parking lot.

Boat slips are not currently available due to the reconstruction project.

  • Be aware that boats, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, and any other floating conveyance are required to stop at all inspection stations when they are open and operating. If an inspection station is not open, you still have a legal responsibility to effectively decontaminate your watercraft.

  • Boat launching access at Port Ramp Marina will be available until the weather conditions will no longer allow boat launching ( first snow). There will be no winter maintenance or snow removal on the boat ramp or parking lot. Docks will be in at Port Ramp until it is unsafe. Bathrooms will be available. There will be no drinking water available. All fees apply.

  • After Port Ramp is closed, winter access to the Anderson Cove boat ramp will be available, to allow ice fishers the option to park at Anderson Cove and access the lake to ice fish, from Anderson Cove.  There will be winter maintenance and snow removal on the boat ramp and parking lot. All fees apply.

South Fork campground

South Fork Campground is located on the banks of the South Fork Ogden River at an elevation of 5,200 feet, just 7 miles from Huntsville, Utah. Campers love the park for its great river access. Tubing and fishing are very popular activities. The campground contains several single and double-family sites with picnic tables, campfire rings, utility tables, and cement site pads. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are gravel.

Upper Meadows campground

Upper Meadows Campground is a small campground located adjacent to the South Fork of the Ogden River. This campground has gravel spurs and roads, cement table pads, and fire rings. A Campground Host is in Lower Meadows just west of the entrance. This campground offers 9 single sites, each with picnic tables and fire rings provided. This campground offers vault restroom facilities. Firewood is available for purchase from the host at Lower Meadows Campground.

Popular local recreation activities include fishing, hiking, swimming, and tubing down the South Fork Ogden River (a life jacket is required for all tubers). Causey Reservoir, a scenic mountain lake, is three miles east.

Willows campground

Willows Campground is located adjacent to the South Fork of the Ogden River. This campground has gravel spurs and roads, cement table pads, and fire rings. The campground has 14 single sites and 3 double sites. This campground offers vault restroom facilities.

Popular local recreation activities include fishing, hiking, swimming, and tubing down the South Fork Ogden River (a life jacket is required for all tubers). Causey Reservoir, a scenic mountain lake, is two miles east.
