Logan District Campgrounds

 

undiscovered wilderness, ENCHANTED forest, shady trees, mossy river BANKS, clear water, and striking MOUNTAINs are all waiting for you.

Located in northern Utah. Dry and hot in the summer, and snowy in the winter. Plenty of ski areas are open nearby during the winter snows. Campgrounds are located along the Logan Canyon Scenic Byway. Looking for a road trip ? Make sure to go all the way to Bear Lake, which stretches across over into Idaho. It is known as the “Caribbean of the Rockies“.

  • Logan Canyon Scenic Byway. From historic Cache Valley on the west, this byway winds northeast through the national forest to Bear Lake spanning the Utah/Idaho border. Along the way, 500 million years of geologic history unfold in the lower canyon’s deeply incised walls and formations laden with fossils. In autumn, the colors are unparalleled.

Box Elder Campground

Box Elder Campground is located near Mantua and offers 25 single campsites, 4 group sites, and 4 picnic sites. Each site is equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Vault restrooms are available on-site. The site also has a ball field, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball court available for use. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Bridger campground

This campground is located in Logan Canyon and offers 10 single campsites. Each campsite is equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. This campground has flush restroom facilities.

Card Picnic area

The Card Picnic area is located in Logan Canyon. The picnic area has 4 single sites that overlook the Logan River. Great access to fishing areas. This picnic area offers vault restroom facilities.

Chokecherry picnic area

Chokecherry Picnic Area is located in Logan Canyon. The site offers 4 single picnic sites each with a picnic table and fire ring. The picnic area offers vault restroom facilities. The picnic area is located on the banks of the Logan River and offers great access for fishing.

Dewitt picnic area

This picnic area is located in the lower part of Logan Canyon right along the Logan River. This picnic area has 3 individual picnic sites each with a picnic table and fire ring. This picnic area offers flush restroom facilities. Many recreation opportunities are available nearby.

Friendship campground

Friendship Campground is located in Blacksmith Fork Canyon and has 5 single campsites and one group campsite. Every single site has a picnic table and a fire ring. This campground has vault toilet facilities. Recreation opportunities are available nearby.

Guinavah-Malibu campground

This historic campground offers 34 single campsites, 3 double sites, and 3 group sites. Each site offers picnic tables and fire rings. The site also offers an amphitheater in group site C. Flush restroom facilities are available in the campground. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Status/ Alerts: The campground is will be closed in the 2024 season for reconstruction.

Lewis M. Turner campground

This campground has 9 single campsites, each site offers a picnic table and fire ring. The campground is set back off the highway in the aspens. Flush and vault restroom facilities are available. Recreation opportunities are available nearby. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Lodge campground

Lodge Campground is located in the Right Hand Fork of Logan Canyon. The campground has 10 campsites each with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault restroom facilities are available at this site. A trailhead at the end of the road access the Great Western Trail, as well as a number of other trails.

Pioneer campground

Pioneer Campground is located on the banks of the Blacksmith Fork River. The campground has 15 single sites each with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault restroom facilities are available at this site. Plenty of recreation opportunities are available nearby. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Preston Valley campground

There are six single sites in this campground. Each site offers a picnic table and fire ring for use. This campground has flush restroom facilities available. Recreational opportunities are available nearby.

Red Banks campground

Red Banks Campground is a small, 12 single-site campground right on the banks of the Logan River. Each campsite offers a picnic table and a fire ring. Vault restrooms are available. Recreation opportunities are available nearby. Firewood is available for purchase from the host at Lewis M. Turner Campground.

Shenoah Picnic area

Shenoah Picnic Area is located in Blacksmith’s Fork Canyon. The picnic area has a group picnic area and a single picnic site on one side of the river and other sites across a bridge on the other side of the river. This picnic area offers vault restroom facilities. Recreation opportunities are available nearby. The Shenoah Group site is available for overnight reservations.

Smithfield campground

This campground is located up Smithfield Canyon. This campground has 6 single campsites each with a picnic table and fire ring. It also offers 1 group day-use site. Vault restrooms are available at this campground. The campground offers access to hiking and biking trails.

Spring campground

This is a small 3 single site campground. Every single site has a picnic table and a fire ring. Vault restroom facilities are available in this campground. The campground is located on the Left Hand Fork of the Blacksmith Fork River.

Spring Hollow campground

Spring Hollow Campground offers 11 single campsites, 1 double site, 1 group day-use site, and 1 overnight group site. Each site offers picnic tables, pedestal grills, and fire rings. This campground has a mix of both vault and flush restrooms. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

Sunrise Campground

Sunrise Campground has 26 single site campsites each with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault restrooms are located throughout the campground. The campground is a high elevation location and has views of Bear Lake, many hikes are nearby. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

A great opportunity to go on a day trip and visit Bear Lake, the “Caribbean of the Rockies”. Turquoise waters invite you to dive in and enjoy the many recreational activities Bear Lake has to offer. Activities include beaches, boating, fishing, water sports, hiking, snow skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, exploring the history and so much more. Bear Lake has 70,000 acres of water. There are numerous boat ramps and access points for whatever fun you like the best. The shallow beaches are perfect for swimming or getting started on your paddleboard, kayak, canoe, or raft. Make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen, beach equipment, and food because it is easy to forget about time when you are enjoying your day on the beach.

Other activities available - Horseback Riding, Cave Exploring, Back Country ATV, Camping and Picnics, Historical Tours, Wildlife Viewing, Golf, and more. There are several trails around the lake.

Bear Lake Scenic Bike Trail, 4.2 miles, paved, Garden City Walkway, Limber Pine Trail, Bloomington Lake Trail, Highline Trail, Miles: 55, open for biking, hiking, horseback riding, motorbikes, Paris Peak Trail, Logan Canyon Trails.

Bear Lake Bucket List: camp at Sunrise Campground, explore Paris Ice Caves, eat at Raspberry Shake, hike the Limber Pine Trail, take a free tour at the Paris Tabernacle, explore Minnetonka Cave, hike to Bloomington Lake, look for the Bear Lake Monster!

Tony Grove campground

The campground sits on a hill, overlooking the lake, about 1/4 mile away.  At 8,100 feet elevation, this campground generally has a short season. This campground has 34 sites each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault restroom facilities are available. Firewood is available for purchase from the host.

White Pines day-use area is nestled up by this small mountain lake.  It is not uncommon to see a moose swimming or grazing on underwater plants in the lake.  Hiking trails lead to the Mount Naomi Wilderness Area, including the White Pine Lake Trail, and a self-guided nature trail circles the lake.  Campers and picnickers enjoy canoeing and fishing from the shore. Key planning tip: Reserve your site early; especially for holidays and weekends.
